This engraving of their new ship the john williams purchased and equipped from a fund raised by the juvenile friends of that institution, is by special permission most respectfully dedicated. The john williams was built at the royal navy yard, harwich and completed in the most efficient manner for the interesting service in which she is employed, was launched on the 20th march 1844 and sailed from london on the 5th june following - her dimensions are length 109 feet 8 inches.
