Fur sewing machines at the udo meinelt & söhne company in rötha. In 2017, udo meinelt & söhne opened its furrier workshop for the first time to interested laypeople who would like to work with fur. In courses lasting five hours each, six participants are now regularly introduced to the basics of furriery. This continues a tradition in which members of the fur industry taught rabbit breeders' wives how to make pillows, blankets and vests, perhaps even more elaborate items of clothing, from the rabbit fur that accrued alongside the meat. The company had these old fur sewing machines refurbished on newly created machine tables, together with new motors, so that they could be given to course participants at a reasonable price if required. As of february 2020.
