JP Gillis Flag

JP Gillis Flag

G. P. Gilliss flag. During the american civil war, this flag was captured in sacramento, california. The creator george phineas gilliss, flew the flag on the 4th of july, 1861. It was "captured" by biderman. (gilliss' flag is sometimes described as the "j. P. Gillis" flag, which is due to typographical misspellings in a variety of sources).
