Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 614, 6 August 1921

614. Cross-meal on the hill above the village. Redina, sofia. It bears an inscription and date cut with a knife - memorial of st. Five. Four-winged; its upper wings are doll-shaped at the ends, crosses are cut with a knife on their faces. It is carved from oak wood. On st. Presvet - when they start st. Peter's fast, they light candles, burn incense and sacrifice a sacrificial offering for "bereket", for health, for "goods to last", to be protected from the enemy, from rabies, from dizziness and other pains related to it; may the goods be heard and last, may god protect it from clouds, from hail and other[ugi] calamities.
