1866 Illustrirte Zeitung (Ausschnitt) Holzstich Am Bahnhof, Ansicht von Hannover, Ernst-August-Platz, Robert Geißler, Bildseite, altkoloriert, Robert Geissler
Old coloured wood engraving, signed and dated 1866 by the artist and named "at the train station", in the caption of the illustrated newspaper with the text "view of hanover. Original drawing by r. Geißler". What can be seen are mainly the buildings on ernst-august-platz opposite the later main station with the large green areas and fountains on the square. The place is enlivened by numerous walkers in hats, the ladies still wear crinolines. In the centre of the picture is the ernst-august monument, which was erected just a few years earlier in 1861, and further in the background behind the end of bahnhofstrasse is the tower of the market church. Date: 1866.
