A view of bradford, painted during/shortly after the industrial revolution. Bradford was known for producing a wide variety of goods, but was most famous for wool (becoming known as the "wool capital of the world"). This painting contrasts the rural with the urban and has been used as a book cover recently, for elizabeth gaskell's north and south. Date: 1849.
