Podporucznik Legionów Polskich (Józef Mączka?), 1916, Stanisław Janowski

Podporucznik Legionów Polskich (Józef Mączka?), 1916, Stanisław Janowski

In the photo we see a second lieutenant in the uniform worn in the 1st uhlan regiment of the polish legions and in the staff cavalry unit of the polish legions headquarters. Most likely it is józef mączka. The problem, however, is the rank of the officer portrayed. Józef mączka was promoted to second lieutenant only on november 1, 1916. Yes, the photo must have been taken after that date, i. E. Already during his service in the polish auxiliary corps. It seems doubtful that mączka could have worn a legion cavalry uniform at that time. But it cannot be ruled out (he could only pose in it for a photo). The photographed legionnaire has the insignia of a second lieutenant on his collar. There is also a visible etiquette with flat, decorative tassels placed under the left shoulder strap (loop). The officer is wearing a maciej cap. Date: between March 1916 and April 1916.
