The five otokodate (chivalrous gentlemen), depicted by five famous kabuki actors in grey and white striped robes with bamboo flutes in their girdles standing beneath branches of cherry blossom: 1) sawamura sojuro v carrying a tobacco pipe and holding his robe, 2) nakamura utaemon iv crouching with his hands on his head, 3) ichikawa ebizo v (danjuro vii) standing with his hands concealed in his robe,
4) matsumoto kinsho (koshiro vi) standing with his legs apart and holding a tobacco pipe, and 5) ichikawa kuzo turning his head and holding an open fan. Date: between 1847 and 1853.
