Fighting vessels at anchor against a coastal view, probably in scapa flow, about 1917
a liquid watercolour study, apparently on a fine morning, of three warships at anchor or moorings, probably in scapa flow. The vessel on the left is a pre-dreadnought battleship, probably one of the 'king edward vii'-class. She has awnings rigged aft and amidships. The ship to the right of centre is a light cruiser and the vessel on the right seems to be based on a 'marksman'-class destroyer leader which were only built from 1916-17. Date: circa 1917. Dimensions: 260 mm x 351 mm. Collection: Fine art.
