Tobias will later use the fish's bile to cure his father's blindness. In the bottom margin a four-line latin text. Manufacture. Dimensions: sheet: h 280 mm × w 350 mm explanation the prints in the nova zembla collection were forced to be left behind in the winter camp, the 'behouden huis', on the island during an expedition by willem barendsz and jacob van heemskerk in 1596-1597. The prints were brought from amsterdam in one or more stacks as merchandise. Almost three centuries later, in 1871, the norwegian elling carlsen returned to nova zembla and found the remains of the 'preserved house', including a large part of the inventory. Some of the prints, in the form of caked clods, were also found. The clumps of paper were sometimes broken in several places. The prints were separated between 1975 and 1979. This resulted in a total of approximately 1000 fragments of approximately 400 prints of approximately 150 different prints.
