Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 325, 25 August 1917

325. Tombstone in the old cemeteries in the town of silistra carved from white limestone with inscription and date 1871 half-erased on back. It represents a quarter block with dimensions: 42 cm high above the ground, 34 cm wide and 14 cm thick. On its face is carved a doll-like cross in relief, of which the lower and upper wings [are] large, trapezoidal, with their broad bases outwards; the side wings are incised, on them is carved an isosceles cross, and between them another such cross. On the upper side of the block is carved a square water trough for the birds to drink. Sketched on 25. Viii. 1917. (t. 9, obr. 5. ). Date: 25 August 1917.
