Military surgeon james atkinson described this image as, "another vignette. From the tasteful pencil of mr. Chinnery, wherein two or three cottages are seen at a distance across part of the river. The one in the foreground is that of a poor muslin weaver, formed of bamboo, mud, and matting thatched with straw: his umbrella and a few of his domestic culinary utensils, are lying about, and at the right-hand corner is part of a loom". Date: 1823.
