Perspective view by rené dardel of the future general liquid warehouse for the city of lyon, built in perrache. René dardel (1796-1871), architect of the city from 1831 to 1854, built numerous monuments (including the palais du commerce) and led numerous projects as part of the major works carried out by prefect vaïsse. The general liquid warehouse was built from 1840 to 1841 by rené dardel in what is now rue dugas-montbel (10-12), in order to enforce the payment of taxes on liquids (wines, spirits, spirits, liqueurs and other alcoholic beverages). It is in this establishment that alcoholic drinks are controlled and then bottled. In 1860, the site was assigned to the customs house and remodeled by the city's chief architect tony desjardins. In the foreground, the warehouse of which one of the pavilions remains on rue dugas-montbel; in the background, the confluence behind perrache towards the south, in the middle of the 19th century, with still few buildings and, along the rhône, the poplar hedge which borders the chaussée perrache; in the background, the saône, the hill of sainte-foy-lès-lyon and the landscapes south of lyon. Process: black pencil and ink, gouache. Rating: 17fi 138. Date: 1839.
