Tab. Xciii. On geography. C) the lisbon earthquake. A street with damaged and overturned houses. At the end of it stands a church whose pillars have fallen over. Here and there people running around in fear or half buried under ruins, struggling for their lives. A few corpses, also an overturned carriage in the street. One person is climbing over the rubble that fills the door of his house. Behind the houses, flames are rising from a great conflagration caused by the fire of the smashed stoves (it was in 1755, towards winter). (description according to source). Date: 1774.
