Indooroopilly road bridge, brisbane, 1936
the indooroopilly toll bridge was seen as advantageous over the contemporary council vehicular ferry in terms of both its time-saving ability and its capacity to generate greater income. A suspension type bridge was chosen as the most suitable for the site as there was no necessity for river piers, eliminating the danger from flood waters, and its stability would not be affected by any debris collected from the adjacent railway bridge (information taken from: indooroopilly toll bridge limited, prosepectus, 1931?).
