a rapidly executed sketch showing the effects of waves on the cornish coast. The painting shows waves breaking in the foreground and concentrates on the relationship between the sky and sea. The dramatic appearance of the chaotic cloud cover is indicated by the use of strong colour and broad brush strokes. Following the end of world war i, everett went to helston in cornwall from 28 january 1919. He then moved to porthleven before renting a studio at sennen coven until 11 may.
