At the end of altona harbor, a kiel railway line runs down the hill and connects the elbe with the baltic sea. The loaded wagons are pulled up and down the hill by a steam engine on wire ropes, and the goods are loaded directly from the ships into the transport wagons. Right next to the railway on the hillside is the well-known amusement park rainville's garden, from where you have a lovely view of the elbe. The customs border for the duchy of holstein begins here, and the danish guard ship, which used to be opposite the köhlbrand, is also located here in the middle of the river.
