photo of the plaque of the orangutan sultan in the monkey house in artis. The relief was made in bronzed plaster. This was later replaced by a replica in bronze. The sculptor petrus theodorus henricus böhncke (1873-1949) was a zookeeper in artis for 32 years. As a sculptor he was largely self-taught. He was married to the illustrator marie kelting.
