(according to the record in [1] portrait of leocadia zorrilla). For more than a century, the woman in the portrait was considered josefa bayeu, goya's wife (this is how she appears in the inventory of new acquisitions of 1872, when the painting entered the prado museum from toledo, from the trinidad museum). By good logic, however, and considering that josefa was born in 1747 and died in 1812, it is very likely that she was the lady portrayed here, chronologically placing the work around 1815, by virtue of her clothing and hairstyle. Later studies have supported the thesis that it is leocadia and not josefa; especially a set of portraits of his mother made by rosario weiss in bordeaux, between 1824-1828.
